Things haven’t been going well around here, and to bore you with the details would just be a crappy thing for me to do. We’d not been on anything more than a day ride in a long time, again for a wide variety of reasons. The purpose of having this motorcycle is to travel together, so plans were made, and we were off.
The two of us had explored only briefly some of the area of northern Arizona and southern Utah. Each time we’ve been in this area, it was on our way elsewhere. The weather deities were smiling, no precipitation – but it can still be cold at these higher elevations. My wife has begun to let me more emphatically on these rides that when she’s cold, she’s just not enjoying herself. We will improve on this comfort factor on this ride.
We’ll just be out for a long weekend.
As we approached Las Vegas, we made a detour and visited with her brother. A two hour delay made me a bit concerned about arrival after dark.
…back on the road and roll up thru a portion of Arizona that is only accessible by road thru another state (Nevada or Utah). This area is commonly referred to as the Arizona Strip, which actually causes this region to have more physical and cultural connections with southern Utah and Nevada than with the rest of Arizona.
Overnight stay in St. George. An idyllic community, very typical of most of the area that was settled 150 years ago by the members of the Mormon Church.
From here, our next lodging is in the southeastern corner of the state. To get there, more of those top ten road you have to ride.
