Mid-Atlantic Tour -- Day 3 and 4

April 28, 2018 - Day 3

5/17/2018 - I've edited the photos of this post at least three different times.  I've taken the photos and placed them all into a Google Photos shared album, so they should be viewable...but I thought I did that already.

Yesterday was a bit tougher than I'd expected; it's been a while since my wife has put miles on like that.  First 450 miles, not bad, the last 160 was hard.

The *good* news is that I'd anticipated this.  Next two days, a couple of 400-odd mile days; maybe fina a chance to get off the beaten path; who knows.

The semi-planned ending point is situated a bit west of Memphis.  In planning, it was, from the Texas location, divide it in two, so that's why this region will be the end.

Don't know *exactly* where, since no reservation made.

Plan "B" has us actually going a little further; past Memphis.  The plan is "there is no plan!"

The good news is that I finally did get the GoPro settings correct.  The camera must be oriented, the power applied, so it knows which way 'up' is supposed to be.  So, I do have still images from the past two days' of riding.  Eventually, I'll turn it into stop action video.

Pictures?

So, just how much crap *can* two people take on a Goldwing?

Bellboy - cart, please!

What was that phrase - "work smarter, not harder!"  Finally...

A couple of shots, taken from the back seat.  She did well...

A lot of ranches in this part of Texas - small and not-so-small!

Over-the-shoulder shot.  I'm wanting to avoid the freeways in the city. It took a bit longer, but you did get to see something *other* than skyscrapers on the horizon!

Google Maps will take you to the city center if you simply pick a location.  I did this with my routing today...took us right to the county (Wise) courthouse in Decatur, Texas.

Wise County, Texas Courthouse

I think it's a law that says bar-b-que must be consumed while in or thru the Republic of Texas.

"Google, find me good BBQ!"

4.3 stars - that's decent, take me there!
Bodacious BBQ, Sulphur Springs, TX

Not bad...typical BBQ joint decor.  Food was decent - agreed with the rating!

Remember when signs like these were on gas pumps?  Sadly, I do!

Amazed, but Arkansas looks very much like Texas, so minimal photos.  This stop was to finalize room arrangements for tonight - and to get a cookie!

A thousand miles of bug-guts to clean off when I get to the room!

Plans made for tomorrow...there may only be minimal detail shared first thing.  The preliminary, get-there riding will be done.  Now time for fun riding, weather permitting!

April 29, 2018 - Day 4

Around 400 miles to our destination today...

After today, entries may be a bit sporadic, as we visit with friends and family scattered thru the region.

I really didn't get many more photos getting here, as I was too busy really trying to be certain I didn't get twisted with direction.

We'd considered taking our two-behind trailer.  This stop was intended to be a drop-off in order to revert to the rack-bag we have on the bike now.  Due to arrangements, we left the trailer at home.

A good home-cooked dinner was had, but time to get some rest, and really begin this ride!
