A Quick Ride...

August 30, 2018

I got a phone call earlier in the week from a rider that I've had the pleasure of riding with a couple of times now.

Apparently another rider, who'd recently had a small mishap was in the market for a replacement bike.  This bike happened to be a couple hour ride from me...and since the two individuals who are a LOT closer to the seller's location happen to be away on motorcycle trips themselves...would I be willing to check this bike out?

So, my poor steed has been just sitting in the garage, patiently waiting for me to saddle up and take another ride.  Well, this just happened to be a good reason as any to get back on the bike...

A quick run to the store the next day for oil and a filter, and change the oil.  I then get a chance to chat with the seller, and make arrangements to see the bike.

Wednesday, I ride up the road and have a look at a very clean Goldwing.  Owner states that they're going to try the motorhome routine, so the motorcycles were being off-loaded for now.

I reported the conditions of the bike to the prospective buyer (who is in Arkansas...) and asked if he was ready to hit the road.  I noted that his journey west with truck and trailer to procure his new bike is in progress.

Glad it's all working out.  The ride back home sucked with not one but two accidents - one shut the freeway to the south of the Phoenix metro area for hours.  Thus, taking some of the two-lane back roads - as thousands of others did - consumed time.  Again, a 100+ degree day in the desert.  The second was as a result of some genius professional truck driver managing to get his rig turned nearly 180° the wrong way on -and- off the shoulder of the roadway.

I have a couple of things I need to do with my bike.  One is a small 'thunk' when I hit a bridge seam or some other abrupt road surface change at speed.  I just can't isolate its location at lower speeds, so I'm gonna need to take my time and just try a couple of things at a time.  There's times it sounds like it's right under my seat, other times, it seems to be behind me.

The other item is - I need to confirm that my GoPro camera charging issue is the cable.  The camera seems to work, but due to how I have to position the external charging cord, there may be an intermittent USB connection issue internal to the camera.

Camera in the mount on the bike...

The door does (minimally) protect the cord attachment to the camera, but I'm certain there is some vibration in the cable that's transferred down to the USB connection in the camera.
