Happy New Year...and Happy Groundhog Day. Though in the desert, we're partial to Agua Fria Freddie. I'm still here. Imagine that.
That last series of blog posts from our Summer 2021 trip took a bit longer to assemble and post than it should have. I think I've finally figured out how to be consistent with blog formatting after all these years. Now to go and update some of my prior errors with posts from the past....at some future point in time.
I read this not long ago on a forum that I am on. I thought it's a great topic to start 2022 with.

Oh, yeah, let's hope that next year we won't need that graphic as an introductory image for this first-of-the-year blog post.
Lifespan of On-Line Fora
Most on-line forums follow an arc similar to the following. They start off hyper-focused on the topic, with users who are also focused on that topic and offer knowledge and the appreciation of other members. As the forum ages and more users join, the subject of the forum becomes watered down with less knowledgeable members along with those that offer opinions rather than fact and do so disrespectfully. This drives away the members that came here with good intent, the original members. The forum loses quality, and becomes just noise, driving away more members. Finally, you're left with just the trolls.
Where *did* those original members go? Some may have drifted over to other forums. Many drifted off to other major social media platforms, as by this time, they're now friends with other forum members *because* of these very social aspects of on-line forums from a dozen or more years ago.
Great history lesson written ten years ago about on-line social activities that I don't need to write about; someone else did:
I still log in periodically and check on things, but I've really dialed down my posting presence on many (no, not all) forums I've been on over the years.
The annual February weekend motorcycle get-away
I'm not going (again). It's a matter of priorities. I have things that I need and want to get done.
Next Summer's Trip
So...things have transpired over the last several months that have made a visit to the PNW a higher priority than it has been before. I'll not get into the details at this time, but we'll just say that we'll have a plan to be up that way later on this year. In four wheels at first, then another time on two. I hope. A future blog entry will explain.
New Years Resolution
Maybe there will be more blog entries made in 2022.
Random Final Thoughts
A forum that I've been on now for a decade sold to a mega-corporation a few weeks ago. Some of the stories about my more compelling rides that I have done (along with my wife...) had been posted there at the beginning to share with other motorcyclists.
Well, the company decided to change some of the rules. Darn sure glad that I have this dusty outpost to put them under *my* control.
I've been blogging for three years, starting out by sharing motorcycling stories and photos from over the last 15 years. Wow...
How far is that? A rough estimate puts it around 180,000 miles - or ~75% of the way to the moon. Still keeping close to that 1000 miles per month average.
Someday, someone will read it all and tell me how it was.
The fact that you are now measuring your miles in reference to lunar travel is everything.
