If you read the 48 State Ride story, you've seen & read about the last half of these images. Yes, I have missed a handful, which is why this story will not be completed until I've captured them all.

AZ - April, 2007 No Sign
The first tours were done close to home and didn't cross the state line. Be honest, though - tell me you've ever taken a photograph of the "Welcome To X", where X happens to be your home state. I doubt many even consider that. I didn't...for a decade! ??
So, the image really isn't a "Welcome To Arizona" sign, but rather one that was erected shortly before the state centennial celebrations back in 2012. These are located as one approaches most major municipalities in the state as well as shortly after crossing a state border and actually passing the real Welcome sign.

NV - April, 2007 No Sign
The first out-of-state trip was a weekend getaway to Nevada, where we have some family. Since this was before the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge was completed, the old highway crossed over the Hoover Dam. Taking a photo along that winding, dangerous road the bridge replaced was never a wise move, so I never got those pictures. This is what a typical sign looked like in 2008.
I've been in Nevada several more times and have never managed to get an image of a sign.

We had friends living in the state at this time, and we visited two times - 2008 and 2009. I never got the actual sign; the closest that could be considered would be this, which I grabbed in 2009.
Utah and Colorado 4 Corners
I probably need to improve this sign...like, get an actual "Welcome" sign. Included for now.

The same trip, I *did* get:
Think I was smart enough - along this two-lane road - to simply turn around and grab the Utah sign? Since I was right next to it?? Obviously not.
Another point made in past blog entries...when you're working 40+ hours a week, and only take one or two trips a year, it can sometimes be difficult to see the oddities in your own backyard.
Here's one of those backyard oddities - the Four Corners monument:

The entrance road to the Four Corner monument is from New Mexico; thus the sign.
All those states above - figured "I got the sign, no need to take 'em again!" - Probably should have on this next trip, since we went thru those states again.

This is just west of West Yellowstone, MT. Wandering toward Utah from here toward; this is a region that needs further exploration!
That entire trip needs a do-over.
This next trip crossing state borders had one destination that was required. Our trip was to attend a wedding in Kentucky. So the routing was a little out-of-the way for a couple of reasons - once of which was to capture more signs!

Quite a pause in time here. Obviously, the remaining states on that trip had already been captured. Yes, we did some motorcycle trips, but now it takes some riding in order to get to a new state on the list.

So, this whole ride report/blogging thing really gets started after October of 2016, when I did my first (and only) coast-to-coast ride. Naturally, I could only add a single state to the list of states ridden, and that was Florida.

Quite a ride that was.
The next ride was extensively blogged; this was the ride my wife and I did during the spring of this year. Like I stated earlier, it's now taking a long time to get to new territory - four days.

Well...I'm close to it when I got this picture, but it's difficult to tell. I was focused on where the exit was that I needed for this fuel stop, since it was very close to the border itself.

The highways into Clarkston, WA can be confusing. Add in darkness along the road, and not exactly being sure where the sign physically was on the route I was on - miss.
Again, there's always a reason to go back.

I mean, by now, you have to see the idea...keep moving (for most of them), click, get the shot and take what you get.
Crossing border from Iowa into Minnesota, I missed the sign. Well, it's not a sign as much as it is a monument. I had a second and final opportunity as I was about to cross into Wisconsin. Got it!

So, the billboard on the first picture "Retire in Delaware" - second is the seal from the state on the gas pump. Not a "Welcome To..." sign.

We had a week to get 2000 miles. This was truly 'touring mode' and more photos are in the blog entry for that trip. In planning the routing for this leg, the idea was to catch as many states as possible on the way - and so seven was a nice number!
